For Osborne, the streets of Bangkok have much more to do with him. It’s a city that is alive and breathing because of the people who inhabit it and their unmatchable way of life. You don’t need to speak Thai to feel that. You can point to the mysterious foods in the cart or drop yourself directly into the sweaty trenches of Bangkok nightlife and become a part of the unsolvable puzzle without uttering a single word. Bangkok is not a city like New York, it cannot be understood with words, but it will use its jungle ways to help reveal something about you.“Bangkok’s a fucking enjoyable place. It’s fucked up, but it’s soulful. It’s not like New York, which has become quite a soulless place.” Osborne, although indulging in Bangkok’s mystical ways, has formed his own separate nomadic way of life. It’s a life made of up of Thai street food and Japanese whisky, Mongolian archery, European beauty, along with a British body and an Italian spirit. His days are lled with the magic that comes in the simplest forms and experiences that are larger than life. Like Bangkok, it’s a soulful life, above all else.Editor’s Note: Lawrence Osborne’s new novel Beautiful Animals, is scheduled for release in July.11
